Anyone want to play next Saturday?

Hello all.

Is there any interest in a Saturday game next weekend (03-Feb-2007)? The game would be held at my home. We would start about 1:00pm and play until everyone has had their fill. I’ll have a variety of snacks and non-alchoholic beverages on hand, but you can bring whatever it is you like.

We would break for a bit around 6:00pm for dinner and could order-in pizza or make a food run (taco bell, Arbys, BK, McDs, Mr Hero, Wendys, KFC and others are all about 5 minutes away).

Let me know what you guys think.

Oils well that ends well.

Excited by the thought of the profit margins based on Amaren's calculations (but realizing that adventurers don't trivialize their time with such things), Elrose hires some laborers and costers to barrel, transport and filter the oil.

A buyer is found and after factoring in all of the reclaimation costs, the net profit is 13,433gp, to be split amoung the members of the Protectorate as stated in the Charter.

Hakim has not sold most of the dragon pieces-parts yet (except the heart). The disposition of any profit from this will be based on Hakim's affiliation with the group. Is he a member of the Protectorate, or simply a hired gun (excuse the pun).

If he has simply been hired on- then the profits are his alone. He asked the members of the Protectorate that were present if he could take parts of the dragon- no one disputed this. In this case, he is not entitled to a portion of the Oil profits, unless the Protectorate agrees that this should be part of his salary.

If he is actually a member of the Protectorate, then he must share all profit gained by any means with the group and gets a share of the oil profits as well.

Please let me know the group's decision- it will make a difference with events in the near future...

What say you? Is Hakim One of the Guys or just hired help?

Leoic's Gift

The elven woman stood and gathered the scroll she had been working on, carefully tucking it into an ornate scroll case. She took a deep breath and exited the room to travel to the parlor where Elrose and his friends had been instructed to wait.

Elrose stood as she entered the room and began to speak, but she swiftly held a finger to his lips, rendering him silent for the moment.

"Do not speak, Elrose of the Northlands," she requested, "instead, listen for I have not much time."

She composed herself and ignored the rest of the company, speaking calmly to Elrose alone.

"I have committed many crimes. Some against my people, some against you and your friends. Some against the Gods. Some against nature. I have interrupted the natural order of things for my own ends and I have much to answer for, but I wanted to thank you before I leave to answer for my deeds."

She produced the scroll case from under her robes and handed it to the tall, puzzled human.

"You have saved my life and have given me the opportunity to mend that which I have rended. Many do not receive a second chance. I will not squander mine."

She glanced over at Amaren and nodded solemnly.

"I have learned that the laws of gods are not to be trifled with and that no salvation is without cost. I will spend the rest of my days in the service of others."

She looked down at her hands as if they were suddenly useless and continued her explanation.

"Mystra has removed my connection to the weave. I have been cast adrift in this sea of magic without a sail. I prayed for days that I might use the art to create one last spell. I was granted this brief gift."

She reached out and tapped the scroll case that Elrose was now holding.

"May it save your life and give you a second chance, as you have done for me..."

Inspirational words from the Son of the Broken One

Amaren addresses the congregation at a temple of Ilmater, providing inspiration to all who attend. Read his stirring speech here.

At the end of his oration, Amaren steps from the podium amidst the cheers of the crowd and makes his way to the rear of the temple where he and others will distribute packages to the congregation as they leave.

Mothers bring children forward and ask for the paladin's blessing, which he bestows freely. Commoners, merchants, craftsman and lords all take possession of the packages and shake Amaren's hand, promising to spead the kindness he has so graciously donated throughout the city. His gift for detecting malevolence would be wasted in this place- only kindness and benevolence live here.

Several of the more well-to-do patrons follow Amaren's example and pledge gifts to purchase more materials for the less fortunate. Brother Hedlin quickly sets up a distribution area on the steps of the church and acolytes are sent out into the city to gather those without means so that their burden can be shouldered by those inspired here this day.

A bard produces a lute and sits on the steps, singing a song filled with lyrics about the strength of numbers, the Broken One's wisdom and a fine, young paladin who lives only to serve-

Amaren Corinath
