Journey Across the Sea of Swords

Once Milo had bested Uuldeg during an 'accord', the rest of the crew left him alone, but sneaky crew members were the least of the party's worries.

Nelanther pirates flying friendly colors sailed along side The Last Elixir, asking for news, but it was a ruse. A bombard sailed a pojectile over the bow and several well-practiced fighters boarded the ship hoping to take her with little resistance. The Protectorate and captain Glar had other ideas.

Cloud floated up onto a mast and Elrose emerged from the cabin. Both focuses their magics on an enemy sorcerer on the other ship. Stolig got up on deck moments later, grabbing a shield and a mace on the way up. He summoned a giant bee to keep the bombard crew occupied and a spiritual weapon to harrass the captain.

Amaren kept one of the pirates busy for a time, but hadn't gotten his sea legs yet and had trouble landing blows as the ship tossed to and fro. He got some aid from Stolig's mace after his spells had been cast.

Xel and captain Glar held the aft deck, with the captain absorbing the bulk of the damage as Xel sailed arrow after arrow into the pirates foolish enough to board there. Staying out of range of their dangerous melee weapons, he backed off with each successive shot until he was firing from the rigging on the far side of the ship.

Moments later, Milo, Thorik and Jascar emerged from the hold with a few other crewman brave enough to move onto the deck. Jascar was severely wounded, but held his own. Milo punished a pirate of his own as Thorik cleaved his way through one and into a second.

The pirates began to take losses and decided that descretion might be a better idea. They retreated onto their ship and fired a bombard shot through the hull of The Last Elixir as the pirate sorcerer put a firey spell to work on her sails.

Acting quickly, Xel jumped into the rigging and cut loose buring rope and sail to protect the rest of the ship. After animating a burning rope toward the pirate vessel, Stolig moved down below deck to use a wood-molding spell to slow the sinking of the ship. Others get in their parting shots and give the pirates something to think about as they repair their own vessel.

After a few days of relatively smooth sailing, another boat appears on the horizon on an intercept course with The Last Elixir. Very different from the last pirates, this ship flies the colors of the Iron Keep and is the color of sea coral, crewed by sea elves. This time, Glar is familiar with the ship and it's female captain Valanthe, the Golden Dolphin. He advises the party not to draw steel or make any threatening moves and everyone complies, letting Valanthe and her crew board and search without incident. They appeared to be looking to see if Glar was ferrying any mercenaries or supplies to Moray. The party presents their contract and all is well.

A giant squid kept the journey from getting boring and nearly sunk the ship, but a concerted effort by all sent it back to the depths. Jascar and Xel both got to drink a little sea water, but both recovered and the ship finally enters the port of Caer Callidyrr with all party members alive, if a little worse for wear.
